San Antonio Heating System - New Installations

An Air Handler is a crucial element in the air delivery system for your HVAC equipment, the air handler is comprised of various parts. We can troubleshoot and diagnose issues that will keep the air moving within your home and can replace or do new installations if necessary

Buying an HVAC or AC unit can be quite costly, so many people try to hang onto them for as long as possible before they get a new heating system installed. An HVAC or central air conditioner has a lifespan of around 10 – 15 years so when a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning unit becomes older than that, it could potentially go at any time. It’s best to start thinking about an HVAC replacement when you have had your unit for more than ten years, as not only could it break soon, but it does become less efficient with age, and it will cost you more to run than you need to be paying.

There are many different types and brands of HVAC and air conditioner units – many of them boasting how energy efficient they are. If you’ve had an HVAC system installed  over 15 years ago, chances are, there’s a model out there that is a lot more energy efficient than your current unit. By having a new heating system unit installed, you can save money on your energy bills.

Signs That Your HVAC – Heating System May Need Replacing

Before you go to turn your HVAC unit on, only to find it no longer works – plan ahead. You don’t want to be left surprised and with a large bill that you haven’t saved for. Buying a new HVAC can be quite expensive so if you know that your unit is getting on in age, put some money aside for a new one.

Here at Air Care, we aren’t a company who would tell you that you need a replacement if you didn’t need one. We want to sustain respect and loyalty between ourselves and our customers. When your HVAC unit is coming to the end of the road, there are three main signs that we tell our customers to look out for:

  • Age – When an HVAC unit is over 15 years old, you’ve gotten your money’s worth out of it. We do advise homeowners who have an older system to invest in a new HVAC rather than putting money into a unit that could potentially shut down at any moment. If the HVAC unit was already installed when you moved into your home and you aren’t sure of the age of it, give us a call, and we can find out for you. All you need to do is find the serial number and the model of the unit and tell us this information. We’ll be able to tell you it’s age in a flash.
  • Energy bill increase – When we need to heat up our homes or cool them down, we use an HVAC. When we initially get them installed, and they’re brand new, their efficiency levels are high, but as they age, these levels can diminish. With this, comes higher energy bills. If you have noticed that your utility bills have increased, you need to look at all of the potential causes for it. If all have ruled out but the HVAC unit, a replacement is due. When you have had the new unit installed, we can provide regular maintenance to prolong its life.
  • Humidity – We use HVAC units for heating and cooling our homes. When the systems begin to age, their efficiency drops. The evaporator coil’s performance is one of the biggest clues to whether you need a replacement. One of the evaporator coil’s jobs is to extract humidity – as the unit ages the part will not perform to its full ability. Due to it being less efficient, the air is left slightly humid. Your home may not feel as cold, and it could also become clammy. Old evaporator coils can also cause mold growth, and it’s quite common for them to freeze.

If you have noticed any of the signs, you can call us today, and we will give you a free HVAC replacement estimate. We will come out and inspect your unit to make sure that a replacement is necessary. Just because it’s showing some of the above signs doesn’t mean you need to replace it, it might just need a repair. Whether it’s the condenser coil, heat pump or compressor – any component in an old HVAC unit could break and require replacement.
